Meet Your River Guide.
Born on the Water, Built by the River.
Relentless River Guides is not a big outfit with a rotating roster of strangers. It is one guide who has made the White River his life - and who will pour everything he has into making your trip worth every minute.
Kolby Johnson - Head Guide, Relentless River Guides
Kolby Johnson's relationship with fly fishing started early. At 11 years old, on a family fishing trip to Bennett Springs, Missouri, the men in his family gathered around him on the river and passed down what they knew. The skills, the patience, the feel of the water. Something took hold that day that never let go.
Before he could finish high school, Kolby had already set his sights on the United States Marine Corps. He entered as an infantryman and rifleman, stationed in the dry mountains of southern California, a long way from any trout water. But whenever he could get out, he was blue-lining the streams of SoCal, chasing fish in whatever trickle he could find. Old habits do not die easily.
After his service ended, he tried a few different jobs: warehouse work, dump truck driving, heavy machinery mechanics. Good work. Honest work. But none of it was the river. So every weekend, without fail, he was loading up and making the drive from Kansas City, down to Cotter, Arkansas, to fish the White River. Nearly two years of weekends. Nearly two years of knowing exactly what he was supposed to be doing.
Then he stopped waiting. He made the move, chased his dream of guiding the White River full-time, and has not looked back. Now he is here, fully immersed in the Ozarks, hand-tying flies, running boats, and doing whatever it takes to get his clients on fish. That relentless drive did not come from nowhere. It is the same thing that got him through the Corps, the same thing that kept him on the road every weekend, and the same thing he brings to every single guided trip.
His goal is not to run a guide service. It is to make friends on the water.
Our Mission
While always keeping conservation in the forefront, our main goal at Relentless River Guides is to provide an exceptional fly fishing experience on the White River and surrounding streams. We will keep fish coming into the net all day, not just chasing those legendary big browns but experiencing all the diversity these waters have to offer.
We predominantly use in-house tied flies, with the occasional use of a fellow local's work. Our guides are not just fishy dudes; they are patient, fun professionals who will leave you with memories that last a lifetime.
We are not looking to make clients. We are looking to make friends. Regardless of your experience level, we hope you choose Relentless River Guides as your guide service in the Ozarks.
Proud to Serve Those Who Served
Kolby served in the United States Marine Corps and knows firsthand what it means to come home and need to find your footing again. The river has always been part of that for him, and he wants to share it.

What We Stand For

Conservation First
We fish catch-and-release with care. These rivers are a resource worth protecting, and every trip we run reflects that responsibility.

Flies Made by Hand
Kolby ties his own flies in-house. What ends up on your line on the water was crafted by the same hands guiding your boat.

Every Angler Welcome
Beginners, intermediates, and experienced fly anglers all find a home on a Relentless trip. We meet you where you are and put in the work to get you results.

No Shortcuts
We do not clock in and go through the motions. If the fish are not where they should be, we move. We adjust. We stay after it. That is what relentless means.
